Do you believe in evolution? did you know the "Missing Link" is still missing?
Imaginations certainly took flight over Archaeoraptor Liaoningensis, a birdlike fossil with a meat-eater’s tail that was spirited out of northeastern China, ‘discovered’ at a Tucson, Arizona, gem and mineral show last year, and displayed at the National Geographic Society in Washington, D.C. Some 110,000 visitors saw the exhibit, which closed January 17; millions more read about the find in November’s National Geographic. Now, paleontologists are eating crow. Instead of ‘a true missing link’ connecting dinosaurs to birds, the specimen appears to be a composite, its unusual appendage likely tacked on by a Chinese farmer, not evolution. "Archaeoraptor is hardly the first ‘missing link’ to snap under scrutiny. In 1912, fossil remains of an ancient hominid were found in England’s Piltdown quarries and quickly dubbed man’s apelike ancestor. It took decades to reveal the hoax." U.S. News & World Report, February 14, 2000 "Darwin admitted that millions of ‘missing links,’ transitional life forms, would have to be discovered in the fossil record to prove the accuracy of his theory that all species had gradually evolved by chance mutation into new species. Unfortunately for his theory, despite hundreds of millions spent on searching for fossils worldwide for more than a century, the scientists have failed to locate a single missing link out of the millions that must exist if their theory of evolution is to be vindicated." Grant R. Jeffery, The Signature of God "There are gaps in the fossil graveyard, places where there should be intermediate forms, but where there is nothing whatsoever instead. No paleontologist . . . denies that this is so. It is simply a fact. Darwin’s theory and the fossil record are in conflict." David Berlinsky "Scientists concede that their most cherished theories are based on embarrassingly few fossil fragments and that huge gaps exist in the fossil record." Time magazine, Nov. 7, 1977 "The evolutionists seem to know everything about the missing link except the fact that it is missing." G. K. Chesterton And before you say it, I can post this in religion if I want. The Atheists claim to have no religion and they sure post here a lot. LHOOQ, By the look of your pic, you are a lot closer to the missing link then I am

If you want to see the missing link, look in the mirror.

Fossilization is a rare process. Of course there are gaps. We don't have the bodies of all the people who died in WWII half a century ago. How realistic is it to expect us to have an example of every animal that has ever existed? Also (just fyi) all fossils are transitional fossils because evolution is a process and all "species" are transitional.

Evolution is so yesturday -- God win's again !

Wow. Quotes from the 70's. You're really up to date.
5 :
Biologists don't use the term "missing link" any longer. The term itself is a misnomer; all organisms are transitional forms. Edit: That crack on LHOOQ was wrong, in both senses of the word. You're a fucking asshole, and if your dick is only half as inadequate as your "argument", then no wonder you're so spiteful. Old, tired, and limp on both accounts.

and another copy and paste. heres another cookie *drink*

I accept evolution. BTW do you realize that most of your quotes are 30 years old?
8 :
You dont need fossils. DNA in every living creature clearly indicates evoultion.

Lol. Man, you again? I thought they only allowed one hour of computer time at psych wards.

98% pure chimpanzee. I AM THE MISSING LINK Q. E. D.

Care to post the source? You see, cutting and pasting stuff from dodgy websites quoting 30 year old articles in news magazines (not journals) does not constitute a great argument. Given you didn't post your source, I'm guessing you already know that. As for the actual question - there is no "missing link", which is why its not been found. It doesn't exist, and no one is looking for it. The evolution of hominids however is quite well documented. Feel free to look it up, though steer clear of the sort of sites you obtained this info from.

I don't think it is still missing, I saw one on Craig's list and two of them on Ebay.
14 :
What about lungfish? Fish with the ability to breathe air - that's a transitional species for you there. Or how about platypus? A mammal that lays eggs. There's another example. Edit: Thumb me down all you like, it's gonna change that fact that these creatures exist.

Thanks for not spilling anything.

lol i love this! thank you SO TRUE! and what is that one chick talkin bout "look in the mirror" judging her picture.... she haznt in a WHILE LUCY- Nearly all experts agree Lucy waz just a 3 ft. tall chimpanzee HEIDLEBERG MAN- built from a jawbone that was conceded by many to be QUITE human NEBRASKA MAN- scientifically built up from one tooth, later to be found out was a tooth of an extinct pig PILTDOWN MAN- the jawbone turned out to be one of a modern ape PEKING MAN- supposedly 500,000 years old but all evidence has dissapeared NEANDERTHAL MAN- At the Int'l Congress of Zoology (1958) Dr. A.J.E. Cave said his examination showed that this famous skeleton found in France over 50 years ago is that of an old man who suffered from arthritus NEWGUINEA MAN- Dates WAYYYY back to.... get ready for this one.... 1970!!! This species has been found in the region just north of australia CROMAGON MAN- One of the earliest and best established fossils is at least equal in physique and brain capacity to modern man... so whats the difference? MODERN MAN- This genius thinks we came from apes

"did you know the "Missing Link" is still missing" So is your god. What's your point? ADD "And before you say it, I can post this in religion if I want. The Atheists claim to have no religion and they sure post here a lot" You can post it anywhere you want. What do I care? As for atheists posting "here a lot", at least we don't cut'n'paste tomes of somebody else's thinking. We use our own minds to come up with answers.

There is no such thing as a missing link. All fossils are links. A hoax does not disprove the theory. It is pretty well known that birds are descended from a specific type of reptile, as evidence by their leg anatomy and the demonstrated behavior of modern birds, if nothing else.
21 :
I believe in evolution and God! Sure there are gaps, but there are gaps in everything. No one knows anything for sure. Please consider this: is how we got here as important as what we do, because we're here anyway?
22 :
You're right, we haven't found a single missing link. We have dozens just in the lineage between the other great apes and humans: Sahelanthropus tchadensis Orrorin tugenensis Ardipithecus ramidus Australopithecus anamensis Australopithecus afarensis Australopithecus aethiopicus Australopithecus robustus Homo habilis Homo ergaster Homo erectus archaic Homo sapiens Homo sapiens Each one is transitional in morphology and anatomy between the species before it, and the species after it. If that isn't the definition of a transitional fossil, I'd like to know what your definition is - because whatever it is doesn't seem to fit the actual evidence. Also, it should be noted that hoax and mistaken fossils like Archaeoraptor and Piltdown man were discovered and debunked by paleontologists. Not by religious types with no understanding of the fossil record. Why would they debunk such hoaxes if they were trying to deceive? Seems to me all the deception and lies are coming from the Creationists.

The natural process of evolution explains the many branches of Christianity that have sprouted on the Tree of Religion....be honest and face the facts....
24 :
i think even a new century will pass, evolution will still remain a theory.
25 :
Correct!! If man came from ape there shoudl be scores of part ape part human creatures still living. And there should be humans who are already evolving into something else. You dont find one creature that is one step before or one step after the present day humans.
26 :
We use DNA now we really don't need the missing link.

I suggest you stop lying. Archeoraptor was sold to a fossil collector who got National Geographic to write a story about it before it was up for peer review. The scientific community rejected it as a fraud. The collector was tricked by a Chinese farmer. National Geographic, which is not a peer reviewed journal, screwed up in their rush to print the story. They admit they were wrong, which is what separates honest scientists from creationist. We do have Archeopteryx, Microraptor, and other fossil therapods. Dinosaurs evolved into birds. You are wrong. On the human evolution front, Piltdown man was a fraud, but only British scientists really embraced it. It didn't fit with every other fossil hominid found (which there are many). The Smithsonian did not even consider it a real fossil. Only British national pride kept it going. What about Australopithecus or Neanderthal? Ergaster? Erectus? Habilus? The genetic data? Can you creationists actually make an argument without resorting to dishonesty?
28 :
Darwin's gradualism is not in fact the only way in which evolution proceeds. Small changes in genes can magnify into large changes in the adult organism, leaving very narrow time periods during which the already patchy fossil record might record transitional forms. Remember, if there really was a God, the fossil record would be perfect and without gaps, like the rest of His creation.

James X: DNA in every animal is reason for evolution? Plants and flowers and grass have DNA too.... did we come from them? God made man..... man made up lies....

Sir, Each of countless sperm and ovary are two types of lives with human DNA. Most are short lived and die. Rarely, they fuse and mutate, exchanging DNA code. Given a reasonable environment they grow, split and eventual form male or female humans. Eventually cells will split from these human bodies in the form of ovary or sperm, thus repeating the fusion/mutation cycle. Is not then this and all the universe a form of energy, reacting, mutating and evolving? When your parents copulated, nothing was created from nothing. Two little living things merged and mutated. That mutant was you. Some day a part of you will merge with a part of another and mutate. These mutations and evolutions are evident in all life. Despite the fairy tales you believe in, that is how it is. Open your eyes to the daylight and see the reality. It is pasted all over you. Darwin suggested this on the wider scale of living things and millions of years. New fossil discoveries are filling in the pieces of that puzzle. DNA across the spectrum of all life confirms his findings. Every day there is new evidence to support those findings while you had to source an article going back to 1977 and a fraud in 1912 when much less was known. Do you really think we are that naive? You might as well tell me some godly spaghetti monster made you of clay and stuck you inside your virgin mother. Doesn't your god do those kind of things? Your attempt to stake your argument on finding a rear life mutation that is calculated to have occurred millions of years ago, while ignoring all the other findings and reasoning is incredibly .... Sir, disingenuous arguments speak volumes about the promoter. Further, I have more respect for my ape relatives than I do for you. They are honest creatures that I bond with. As for you and your god deluded "better than thou" arrogant types, I wish you wake up to the beauty and truth of nature, energy never created, never destroyed, always evolving.
