Are flights out of Tucson usually bumpy?
I have heard that desert winds can turn flights into roller coaster rides. Need some imput from people that have flown to or from Tucson Arizona.

I didn't experience that. Airflight is like traveling on roads with a car in that it can be smooth or bumpy depending on the road (or air current) you're on. Fortunately jets are designed to handle those things!

I've never flown out of Tucson but I've flown in and out of PHX and LAS many time and on hot days it does feel like you're riding on a big roller coaster. The heat coming of the desert is only one contributing factor to the roller coaster ride. The other factor is something called orographic lift which are up drafts or down drafts created by mountains. The combination of mountains and heat will produce some fun rides. So if you don't like roller coasters leave or arrive very early or very late so you can circumvent the effects of the mid-day thermals and buckle up.
