Southwest and United allow kids 12 and over to fly as adults without supervision. All other airlines require that the kid be at least 15. To travel as an unaccompanied minor with airline staff supervision, the parent MUST call the airline to make the arrangements. You cannot buy the ticket on line. You must pay the extra fee also. Kids under 18 are not required to have an I.D., tho i think it is wise for them to have one. you can get him a state card if you like.
